The department of Electronics Science and Technology was founded in 2002 and it recruits four-year undergraduate students. Electronics Science and Technology undergraduate program covers various areas of microelectronics, optoelectronics, electromagnetics, electronic materials and components. The department of Electronics Science and Technology includes one first-class discipline of electronics science and technology and four secondary-class disciplines that are physical electronics, circuits and systems, microelectronics and solid state electronics, and electromagnetics.

The department focuses on training high qualified talents on the fields of microelectronics, photonics technology, and electromagnetics with solid theoretical foundation, professional knowledge and experimental ability to engage in the field of integrated circuits, integrated electronic systems and optoelectronic systems, communication systems, antenna design etc. The department obtained a master's degree granting (the first class) of a discipline of electronic science and technology in 2011. Current undergraduate enrollment size is about 50 per year, graduate 20 to 30 students per year.
